O'Brien Park

Parker's downtown park on Mainstreet, anchored by the H2O'Brien outdoor pool and splash pad, an inclusive playground rebuilt in 2023, a softball field, and the gazebo that hosts most town events. Free, open, and the cleanest small-town park in DougCo.
Why it's here
O'Brien Park is the central park of downtown Parker, sitting on Mainstreet within walking distance of the Parker Hotel, the PACE Center, and the restaurants and shops along the historic stretch. It's the park that hosts most of Parker's public-facing events: the Mayor's Holiday Lighting in December, summer concert series at the gazebo, the Parker Days Festival, food-truck Fridays, and the seasonal farmers markets. For families who live in or near downtown Parker, this is the default after-school destination.
The playground was rebuilt in 2023 with a real upgrade. Universally accessible equipment and surfacing (the new ramps and rubber surfacing actually deliver on the inclusive promise instead of just labeling it). Additional shade pavilions and picnic tables. A climbing wall built into the hillside. Swing-bench seating that adults actually want to sit on. Musical instruments scattered through the play area. Improved landscaping and irrigation that has held up through the first two summers.
H2O'Brien is the outdoor pool and splash pad, open Memorial Day through Labor Day, with slides and water features for kids. The splash pad portion is free and runs without a pool admission fee; the actual pool costs $5-7 per person depending on resident status. On a 95-degree July afternoon, this is the most-used public space in Parker.
The other features: a lighted softball field (booked through Parker Recreation for league play), a basketball court, the gazebo (used as a concert backdrop and event hub), and well-maintained turf. Restrooms are clean and open all park hours. Parking is along Mainstreet and in the public lot one block north.
Know before you go
- •After-school playground time (the 2023 renovation is real)
- •H2O'Brien splash pad in summer (free, no pool fee)
- •Downtown Parker concert series at the gazebo
- •Walking distance to Mainstreet restaurants for pre- or post-park meals
Park is open dawn to dusk year-round. Pool and splash pad are Memorial Day through Labor Day, typically 11am-7pm with extended weekend hours. Summer concert series runs Friday evenings June-August. Holiday lighting is the first weekend in December.
Park on the public lot a block north on Pikes Peak Drive rather than the Mainstreet stretch; the Mainstreet spaces are 2-hour limited and patrolled. The splash pad is much busier 1-4pm; come at 10-11am or after 5pm for elbow room.
Pool admission is $5-7 (separate from splash pad which is free). On Mayor's Holiday Lighting night and Parker Days, the entire downtown grid backs up; arrive 30 minutes early or take the shuttle from the outlying lots.
